Being a non-musician I bring a unique perspective to musical composition, development, and variation. The limitations imposed by my lack of formal training also offer opportunities that compel me to challenge conventional norms. The results, I believe, are innovative and distinctive sounds that might enhance narrative and other media.
As a diversified intermedia artist my primary influence has always been personal life experience enriched by science and technology, visual art, world musics, and literature, among other disciplines. Artistic choices informed by my experience and cultural background lead to a broad and inclusive understanding of what music can be, and so expand and enrich the landscape and boundaries for those who will perform and listen to my compositions.
My intention is to invite listening and performing audiences to examine previously unexplored musical forms, while democratizing the creation of music. A more dynamic and vibrant musical culture is my aspirational result.
